My Christmas Wishlist

Friday, November 21, 2008

Here’s a small list of things that I want to get for Christmas. To you people (and by “people” I mean Marv, Kei, and my sis LOL!) who are planning to refer to this list for Christmas gift ideas for lil ole me, do please discuss it with one another so the gifts won’t double. KTHX!!!11one

The Pastel Journal 2007 Issues on CD

All the 2007 issues of The Pastel Journal in one CD! You can order it here.

Paperblank Journal + Cretacolor Primo

Yes, I want it as a set, so sue me. For the paperblank journal, I thought about it for quite a while now and I ended up liking their handstitched series alot. The pages and cover are bound together with string and opening the book fully to sketch on it offers little to no resistance as opposed to the other books which are bound tightly. Please make sure that it is the unlined version because I’m going to use it for sketching with the Cretacolor Primo drawing set.

      Cretacolor Primo Basic Drawing Set

The Cretacolor Primo Basic Drawing set contains six Creta drawing pencils - Graphite 4B watersoluble, white chalk, sanguine and sepia chalk, charcoal and smudge-proof carbon black.

You can find both of them at Fullybooked in Bonifacio High Street *teehee!* (the journal is located on the 1st floor near the cashier and the cretacolor set is found in the art supplies section on the basement level. see how thorough I am?)

Sky Doll Spaceship Collection

 Image Description

From my favorite artist tandem (Alessandro Barbucci and Barbara Canepa) comes this special collection of Sky Doll stories. Each of the stories in the comic was illustrated by different artists whose names escape me at the moment because it’s not easy looking for english info on the book. I’m not sure if the english version has been released by Marvel yet. Times like these, I wish I lived in Europe or at least took my French lessons seriously back in High School.

Hit the jump for the rest of my Christmas Wishlist!

Sky Doll Lacrima Christi

Another special book which is part of the Sky Doll universe. I believe that this is about Agape and Ludovica.

 Qee Sky Doll Cat

ARGH! This is just so darn adorable! Standing at 2,5″, this doll was designed by Barbara Canepa and Alessandro Barbucci themselves. The packaging was designed by Matteo de Longis, another artist I admire.

     It can be ordered here.

 Rembrandt Soft Pastels

These are the colors that I’d like to try out. Image courtesy of The Pastel Journal magazine. If they don’t sell individual sticks, then a Rembrand Soft Pastel set of 30 would be quite nice:

 Set of 30, Assorted

As far as I know, these pastels are available in my favorite art supply shop, Deovir in SM Manila.

Mirror’s Edge for the PS3

Yeah, I know the reviews of Mirror’s Edge aren’t that high and all that, but I still want to play it. It looks amazing and really stands out from all the other games out there, gameplay-wise and aesthetically speaking. Plus, the soundtrack is pretty cool too.

That’s all I could think of for now. I guess I’ll add to it if ever I think of more things that I want. Happy shopping!

I’ll be damned if anyone can afford any of those without yelling “ouch so much for my savings” in the process. At least the things I put in my wishlist are affordable, if a bit banal and geeky!

The Qee Sky Doll Cat’s hearty crotch weirded me out for some reason!

I will get a Mirror’s Edge for the X360 and I’ll keep you posted on whether it’s good or bad. Because, you know, my opinion MATTERS and anyone who claims to disagree with that secretly agrees anyway (ang labo)! I’ll also get a Tomb Raider Underworld (and ogle at… at something. Like the mountains and the sceneries. Yeah.) and Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.

Also, I reckon you can find some of those pastel journal cd’s online (but don’t tell anyone I said that!)

@Nightdreamer: If they really cared about me, the price shouldn’t be a problem *crosses arms* Just kidding! But not all of them are hella expensive, and people can always chip in for a gift. See? Possibilities are endless!

And the hearty crotch is cute T^T

LOL! Right, you’re the authority on the matter. Speaking of Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, I saw an online vid of all their fatalities and I wish it was more violent. Guess they watered it down a bit?

So how can you tell a coloring material’s quality? I’ve always wondered about that.

I kind of made my peace with the fatalities of MK vs DC being tame. They watered it down for the Teenage crowd because, well, I guess it’s unfair to let only 17+ people to play a DC game. Being a reader of DC comics - mostly Batman - I would object if MK put violent Fatalities in there and interpreted the DC heroes as bloodthirsty fascists (some of them are already fascists without even being bloodthirsty). It’s bad enough that Frank Miller has mutilated Batman in his All Star Batman and Robin.

Though that’s not to say that I did not enjoy Mortal Kombat. MK2 is in fact one of my all time favorite fighting games.

Naku, nagiging serioso yata itong comment ko ah hahaha

Well, that’ll have to depend on the medium. Like in the case of pastels, for example, you’ll know if it’s good quality if it contains more pigment and less binder/fillers. The cheapo brand I’m using at the moment is mostly made out of chalk (a binder/filler) with lesser grade pigments, so I suppose the color pay off isn’t as nice as, say, a high quality brand’s pay off. Oh, and the price is also indicative of the quality. You get what you pay for, and that is most especially true in the art world.

Don’t get me wrong, a tool doesn’t make the artist but I just really want to try a high quality brand just to see the difference (now I’M the one who’s getting serious haha!).

Yeah I suppose seeing Batman rip someone’s head off just wouldn’t be right XD
