Profile of a Girl in Soft Pastels (WIP)

     Tools used:

  • MUNGYO soft pastels
  • CANSON Pastel Ingres paper
  • Van Gogh charcoal lead
  • My fingers for blending
  • Reference taken from here.

In case some of you are unaware of what “WIP” means, it’s “Work In Progress”. Having said that, please don’t point out any flaws just yet as this is an unfinished piece. It’s also my first serious attempt at soft pastels so I’m really just a beginner at this. Though if you happen to have experience with soft pastels, I’d appreciate any tips or advice that you can give me.

I think the only thing that I like about it is the skin. I hate the shirt and the hair but I’ll try to get in as much detail as I can once I purchase some pastel pencils. Here’s how the skin looks without everything else (hair and shirt edited out in Photoshop):

Funny, I didn’t expect that I would be enjoying soft pastels more than the oil ones. It’s consistency is very much like chalk and you can blend the powders/dust with your fingers though I think it would be best if I bought a tortillon for blending and smudging. It’d be cleaner that way.

I’m also very tempted to find professional grade pastels. If anyone knows where I can find Holbein or Sennelier brand pastels here in the Philippines, please let me know.

The women found the value and pleasure to buy Coach Outlet . However, what will happen as organizations decide to sell Coach Madison ? How do customers distinguish whether the purse is true or not when they try to buy a Coach Poppy at a reasonable price?
