A Package for Moi! (and first time with mineral make up)

Friday, September 19, 2008

I went to the post office this morning to pick up a package. Guess what it was? Yep, it’s the Signature Minerals make up that I ordered around a month ago! Quite a long wait, wouldn’t you say? It’s also the first item that I bought online using my VISA stamped credit card (thanks, IAS!). So you could imagine my excitement as I hurriedly opened the standard padded brown envelope during lunch. Inside was this little package:

I got worried that the contents might’ve been all strewn apart, or worse, even broken from that month long trip from the US so I was delighted to see how neat everything was arranged. Included in the package were the following:

  • 6 Free Samplers: 10.0 Medium Foundation, Soft Sunshine Color Corrector, Buff Apricot - Matte Blush, Rose - Semi-matte Blush, Soft Radiance Veil, Tawny Tan Veil
  • Luscious Baby Kabuki Brush
  • Luscious Concealer Brush

The only things I paid for were the brushes and the shipping. The sampler pots looked tiny but they were filled to the brim with minerals and looked like they would last me a month or two! Not a bad deal. Also, the brushes were of very, very good quality and the bristles were uber soft (NOTE: The Luscious line of brushes were made for sensitive skin)!

Naturally, when I got home, I tried it on. Since it was the first time for me to try mineral makeup, it was quite tricky. So I removed the sticky tape from the sifter of the jar, closed the lid, and turned the pot upside down to deposit the minerals on the lid. I then dipped my concealer brush (ahh…so soft!) into the Soft Shine Color Corrector and tapped it onto the dark circles under my eyes. It looked very white but I didn’t worry as I was going to go over it with my foundation.

So I did the same with the foundation. I buffed it around my face, swirling in small circular motions until I got the coverage I needed. The whitish concealer mixed in with the foundation and it really did hide my dark circles! Not only that, the foundation looked so natural on my face and it felt so light. None of that cakey feeling that you get with lots of high-end big name powders. It has amazing coverage and yet it feels and looks so natural. No wonder people rave about mineral make up.

Next was the blush. I used the Buff Apricot. It’s a very natural color which I was looking for. If there’s one thing I hate is seeing blush that is applied too much that it looks like someone slapped your cheeks.

Finally, to set my make up, I used the Soft Radiance Veil all over my face. It gave a nice luminescence/glow to my skin which I soooooo love!

I used the makeup at home for a test run and amazingly, my face didn’t get as oily as it usually does. So the oil control on the veil worked!

I haven’t tried any other mineral make up but my experience with Signature Minerals has totally changed the way I see make up. I’m sick of all the easily accessible make up in malls with all their complicated and harmful ingredients that irritate my sensitive skin. From now on, it’s just mineral make up for me! Just as long as they don’t have bismuth oxychloride, talc, or any kind of fillers. It’s a shame that pure mineral make up could only be found online.

I’ll be wearing this make up for a wedding tomorrow. I think I’ll be posting before and after pics (if I’m brave enough!) just to show how it looks.

Cars and houses are quite expensive and not everyone can buy it. Nevertheless, credit loans was invented to aid different people in such hard situations.
